May 2010
There really hasn't been much going on to share lately. Jim is still doing the commute thing from Baker City to Sunnyside on the weekends. We did sell the Teton and now he is living in a travel trailer that we can pull with my 4Runner. He said the entire trailer is the size of the bedroom of the Teton, but he is managing. He has already done some remodeling - took out the two twin size beds and put in a full size mattress, removed a cabinet, and is in the process of deciding what to do with the two benches and table at the front of the trailer.
We are still making landscaping improvements to our property in Sunnyside. My goal is to have a nice green lawn by the end of summer. I'm tired of sand being tracked in everytime we go in the house. We made the parking area a little smaller so we could make the back yard a little bigger. Glutton for punishment? Yep, but that's okay - I'd rather mow more lawn than sweep up sand on a daily basis.
The critters are still eating and shedding on a daily basis. Tank has decided he loves Charlie and if Jim takes Charlie with him somewhere Tank sits in the corner of the yard and howls until she comes back. They have made a game out of trying to catch the squirrel that always *just* manages to get away by the tip of it's tail. Buddy and Precious, the wild cat, are keeping the house rodent free (knock on wood!). Three of the critters have a pretty good system down - Precious catches mice/voles/gophers/etc. and chases them into the back yard where Charlie takes over herding them around, then when Tank sees they have something, he runs over and gulps it down with one big vicious snap. Yum!! I've seen that happen twice - once with a field mouse and once with a gopher. Buddy is rather anti-social so who knows where he is when all this is going on.
We haven't done much riding this year. Jim is planning on riding his Virago back and forth once the weather makes up it's mind to stay nice. I am getting a new front tire for the R6 this weekend and Jim is getting a rear tire for his FZ6. Maybe that will inspire us to ride a little more.
I was looking up the routes for the Run for the Wall and Rolling Thunder this morning and feeling a bit nostalgic. I think we're still having a hard time settling down and doing the daily work routine. One of these days..............
